What danger is fraught with the consent to the processing of personal data?
Almost every day, we somehow agree to the processing of personal data. At the workplace, in a hospital or clinic, university, school and even kindergarten. Various retail chains also try to acquire our data by offering attractive promotions. Put the notorious tick asked even when registering on the site.
But what is it - a tribute to time or another blow to human freedom? Who and for what purpose collects information about us? What is the meaning of the word "processing"? Let's try to figure it out.
What is “personal data”? This is any information that directly or indirectly relates to a specific person.
For example, you enter in the registration form, what is your name, how old are you, where do you live, where did you study, what kind of work experience do you have, what are you into, and so on.
Moreover, you do not just enter personal information, but also give consent to its “processing”.
Processing is ...

This means that you agree that information about you is collected, recorded, systematized, accumulated, stored, used, distributed and, if necessary, changed.
That is, third-party people whom you, with the help of the ticked "allowed" to process information about you, can in some sense invade your life.
The most innocuous examples are shops or hospitals that have properly “processed” information about you.See also: Why can not consent to the processing of personal data in Ukraine?
If you bought something in the online store, before looking at the positions of various goods, then do not be surprised if the next time you send notifications to the mail or phone. If you bought a laptop in this store, you will be offered to purchase a mouse or headphones for it. They will prepare a discount for their birthday, they will inform about the discounts before the holidays.
If you have given your consent to the processing of personal data in a hospital or clinic, then not only you and your doctor will know your state of health. The administration will offer you additional advice, examination or discount on the necessary medicines.
And even if you change the hospital, they will still call and write. And even if you recover from a particular disease, the data about it will remain in the database. And who knows how this information will affect your life.
... can be used against you
Anything you say can be used against you. To paraphrase this phrase, it will look like this: “everything that you write about yourself can be used against you”.
And this is a serious threat to human freedom. If earlier you yourself used your data and processed it, now your personal information can be changed, corrected, generalized without you. And everything is legal - the man himself agreed!
And then you don’t have time to look back, how they decided for you, where you should work, how and how many children to bring up, where to spend your weekends and holidays.
This is why each of us must be vigilant and rememberthat signing consent to the processing of personal information is our right (and not an obligation), as well as the opportunity to refuse.
