The fact that the possibility of choice spoils a person -a well-known fact. No doubt, everyone knows the sensation of a perfect error, when after prolonged hesitation and buying something, the idea arises that "something else, after all, would be better."As it was simple, when old monitors based onCRT began to be forced out of the market by more advanced liquid-crystal ones. The overwhelming majority of matrices were made on the basis of TN, and the choice of the monitor was carried out, first of all, on the response time. And viewing angles, type of matrix and so on, except that people working professionally with graphics. Gradually, the situation changed. Today, the market offers liquid crystal monitors with different types of matrix. The most affordable are made by TN-technology (twisted crystals).
However, they are gradually being replaced by moreattractive by technical characteristics of analogs, among which the ips matrix deserves special attention. Their history began in the 90s, when it became obvious to the producers that the decision on TN in the basic version reached its "ceiling" and modernization is needed. In fact, this can be compared with the repair, during which the old walls remain in their original place, but are exposed to one or another version of the decorative finish. In turn, the ips matrix, developed in 1996 by Hitachi, is a fundamentally new solution. The limitations of traditional TN-monitors were overcome: the viewing angles were increased, the color rendition was significantly improved. In accordance with the above analogy, the ips matrix is equivalent to the development of the construction project and the subsequent erection of the building from scratch. The main feature was the orientation of liquid crystals: according to the new concept, they were located in parallel in the same plane. Thus, it was possible to solve the problem of black color - "sore spot" TN-ok.
As it often happens, new technical ideasgenerate a whole series of questions. Thus, in the classical implementation, a violet shade appeared when looking at the image at an angle, which was eliminated in the modification of H-IPS. Another revision - E-IPS, solved the problem of insufficient speed of image updating, increased corners, and also allowed to reduce the electric power consumed by the device. Well, in P-IPS, finally, it was possible to output 30-bit color.
In general, this technology is very promising. Choosing a new monitor, it makes sense to look at the models based on it. This is a kind of reserve for the future. Moreover, the cost of such devices is constantly decreasing.
But if the owners of personal computersthere are no special difficulties with choosing a monitor, then what should those who have a laptop do? Ips matrix is not available to them? In fact, this is not so. Manufacturers of portable computers, assessing the demand, quickly realized that this direction is very promising. In many models, the ips matrix is increasingly found. The laptop only benefits from this, because it allows its owner to keep up with the progress, offering an excellent color depth and excellent viewing angles. And the unpleasant feature associated with a higher level of energy consumption (compared to TN), remained in the past, largely due to the introduction of LED lighting.
