In 1890, Colorado Governor William Gilpin expressed the idea of connecting the North America and Eurasia by train ferry. The idea was supported by the head of the Union of US Pacific Roads and is on the plan of the American railway magnate Edward Harriman, who was going to expand the project and include the construction of a railway in Eastern Siberia. For this purpose, the Trans Alaska-Siberia Joint-Stock Company is even being created. After the refusal of the Russian government to allocate land for the construction of the railway, the society went bankrupt.
A project is underway to build a railway line from Vorkuta to Anadyr (the Transpolar Railway). Most of the sites are located thousands of kilometers from the Bering Strait and are currently abandoned.
American engineers are proposing to unite the power systems of the USSR and the USA through a tunnel. The implementation of the multitransport corridor ICL - World Link, which includes power lines, creates the prerequisites for the creation of the “energy bridge” of the USSR - America. Expert estimates predict savings of $ 20 billion annually.

The state of Alaska adopted a special decree on reserving land for the future road.
In Russia, a decision was approved on the construction of the Berkakit-Tommot-Yakutsk road to Magadan, which is an important element of the ICL-World Link project in Russia.
The construction of the right-handed Lena-Zyryanka-Uelen transcontinental railroad with a length of over 3,5 thousand kilometers with access to the Bering Strait was approved in principle. This highway is a key element of the ICL - World Link project in Russia.
Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin declares that no budget funds will be spent on the construction of a tunnel under the Bering Strait. According to him, “the tunnel can be financed by private companies if they consider it profitable”
Several times interrupted flights over the North Atlantic and Northern Europe, caused by the eruption of the volcano Eyyafyadlayokyudl in Iceland. In connection with the global “aviacollapse”, the strategic importance of rail transport as an uninterrupted type of passenger and freight traffic has grown. The question of building the Eurasia-America transport corridor, which is the missing link in the global global transport system, has a chance to become relevant again.
