I remember in the times of the USSR it was the most extreme attraction I went to as a child. There were also wells, there were also round metal cages in which motorcyclists circled. Machines really do not remember were?
But what the Indians are making in their wells is of course a “plague”.
India is a country of contrasts and extreme entertainment. One of the most popular is “Maut ka Kuaa”, which means “death well”, or “death wall”. Such an unusual name was not chosen by chance: brave motorcyclists (and sometimes motorists) drive through the edge of a cone-shaped wooden well at breakneck speed, thanks to the centrifugal force that keeps them from falling.
Numerous spectators look down with a sinking heart, because what is happening in front of their eyes seems like fantasy! Participants in unusual competitions "start" at the bottom of the cone in a counterclockwise direction, gradually picking up speed. By the time the speedometer reaches its maximum, they are already high. Most of the participants manage not only to drive on wooden walls, but also to perform a couple of tricks.
The idea of such an extraordinary show originated in America at the beginning of the 20th century. For the first time motorcyclists showed similar stunts in Coney Island in New York in 1911. Just a couple of decades, these competitions have become popular among Americans. The British are also happy to hold such a "steep" race.
The peculiarity of the Indian "well of death" is that it is carried out with all possible safety violations. Not only do the participants ride without helmets, so their “iron horses” are often in disrepair and need repair. And besides, the boards in the "well" may be absent, which undoubtedly complicates movement even more. Despite all this, the hunters try their hand at this attraction even more than enough: sometimes women are even driving. For example, this was the case at similar competitions in New Delhi in 2011.
