Apostles Peter and Paul - Christian preachers

Apostles Peter and Paulwere the disciples of jesus christ. Peter, who was originally Simon, was born in Bethsaida, was married and lived in Capernaum, was engaged in the craft of a fisherman with his brother Andrew. One day he invited Jesus to his home, and the Savior healed Peter's mother-in-law, who suffered from fever. Rybak believed in the Lord and wished to follow him. The Savior gave him the name Peter, which means “stone”. From that moment on, the life of the apostle changed. The love for Jesus was so fiery that he became one of those close to the Savior. During the Last Supper, when Jesus washed the feet of the disciples, he tried to object to Him, but the Master said that if ablution did not occur, Peter would not become part of Him.

The apostles Peter and Paul are Christian preachers.

The apostles Peter and Paul are among the closest disciples of Christ. St. Paul previously bore the name of Saul and belonged to the tribe of Benjamin. He received a good education in Jerusalem, prepared for the post of a rabbi, showed himself as a zealot of Jewish traditions and persecutor of Christians. When Saul was on his way to Damascus, he was blinded by a vision, and the voice of the Lord asked why he was driving him. A blind opponent of Christianity asked who spoke to him. And the answer was: "It is I, whom you persecute." After that, the blind man was taken to Damascus, where he became acquainted with the teachings of Christ, was baptized, and saw the light when immersed in water.

The apostles Peter and Paul are an example of high piety for believers today. They were extraordinary people, because they had a very deep faith and left all earthly things in order to be close to Christ and follow His teachings.

And, at the same time, they were ordinary people. Peter, loving his Master, thrice denied Him at the moment of taking the Savior into custody. That is, fear and other human passions and feelings were not alien to him.

Repentance accompanied him in the future. Constant preaching, persecution, and trials did not drown out repentance in the apostle for renouncing God. But the Lord forgave his beloved disciple, and at the end of his life Peter was martyred on the cross with his head down.

On July 12, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the apostles, urging us to remember their preaching feat and try to be like them. The saints, whom the Lord noted during his earthly life, are great prayers for us sinners before God. Therefore, Christians so often turn to them with prayer.
